P90X2

Developed by the original Power series creator, Tony Horton. Tony broke the mold with Power 90, pushed the envelope with P90X and will become legendary in defining an entire generation of exercisers soon to come with P90X2.
Currently awaiting release, December 2011, but there are no guarantees it will be available for your customers before 2012 unless they pre-order from ME!
P90X2™ is the sequel to Beachbody’s best-selling workout program, P90X. With the P90X2 workout, P90X grads can get even stronger, more flexible, and more ripped. This program is designed for maximum intensity and efficiency. In fact, this completely new 90-day program features cutting-edge workouts so intense; we only let you workout 5 days a week.
Muscle Confusion™ 2
If you doubt your muscles could feel any more confused than the first time you did P90X—you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! P90X2 is going to up the ante with movements, sets, supersets, and complexes that are going to have your muscles so baffled, they won’t know which way is up.
Less is More
As intensity increases, training volume needs to decrease to allow more time for recovery, so in P90X2, you’ll only be training 5 days per week. Remember what you learned in P90X: The body can only grow stronger at rest. This time around, you’re earning more of it. Hard training is all about efficiency, and P90X2 has evolved to the point where less really is more.
P90X2 Workout
The P90X2 program is made up of three phases, each focusing on a different aspect of your fitness: Foundation, Strength, and Performance that will help your body evolve in ways you never imagined. You’ll begin by improving your foundation, where instability plays a large role. Then you’ll build strength and, finally, power, which all translates to improved performance.
Expanding on the original program, P90X2 workout embraces the latest research in applied science to keep your muscles “confused” even longer. The end result is a program that everyone from 5K aspirants to professional athletes can benefit from.
What gives P90X2 its edge?
Dr. Marcus Elliott and the Peak Performance Project.
In order to take P90X2 to the next level, we enlisted the services of Dr. Marcus Elliott. One of the most sought-after trainers in the world of sports, Dr. Elliott now presides over Beachbody’s Scientific Advisory Board and has lent his expertise to the evolution that is P90X2. Until now, his groundbreaking training techniques have only been available to world-class athletes. With P90X2, now you can take them home.
Breaking NEWS! ALL 14 P90X2 Workouts Announced
________________________________________

The 14 Disc Program
Foundation, Strength, and Performance are the three different aspects of your fitness that P90X2 will focus on to improve. Just as P90X evolved into another series of Muscle Confusion exercises, so will your body. By starting with the foundation, P90X2 will help you build strength by eliminating instability which will in turn create a powerful exerciser who has overall improved performance.
P90X2 will quite literally pick up where P90X left off 7 years ago. However much has changed in the fitness and exercise world since then. P90X2 embraces new research and applies what P90X originally brought to the table as well as adding in the last 7 years of research and sports medicine science to the program. The end result will be that absolutely anyone from aspiring 10K athletes to professionals of any sports and fitness genre will benefit from it.
What you’ll need for P90X2
Resistance: bands and/or weights and a pull-up bar. Bands can do the job and bring the burn if you’re on a budget crunch, but if you’re looking to increase muscle mass, I prefer weights and a pull-up bar, which you can usually find on the cheap– especially at places like Wal-Mart.
Stability Ball: Instability is a large part of this program. Creating instability requires your body to fire its stabilizer muscles, which reduces muscular imbalance that is the number one reason for injuries and biomechanical breakdown in your body as it ages. If you can’t afford a stability ball you have wobbly stuff in your house. Couches, chairs, towels, and beds all move under load, as does your carpet, all creating instability…or you can just buy a ball.
Medicine Balls: We mainly use these for stabilizing, not weight, so these can be swapped out for even less stable things in the rec room, like basketballs, soccer balls, etc. Med balls are a distinct advantage, especially as you start adding more weight, but you can replace them with all sorts of other stuff.
Foam roller: Here you can get fairly sadistic with cans, pvc pipe, rolling pins, baseballs, golf balls, etc. Many people “graduate” to harder items over time anyway but we’re pretty confident that if you start on them you’ll instantly feel the small investment you’re making for a proper foam roller completely worth the money.
Plyo boxes: We only step off of these, and never jump on them, so all you need is a sturdy chair or platform like a stairway
Weighted bar: This is simply a luxury item. At home I use a broom, and I’d hope you’ve all got one of those. You can buy weighted bars, a broomstick or weight bar will do the job when using the bar to attach resistance bands to.
If you are a P90X One on One Subscriber you will be familiar with some of the moves and workouts, and even earned a 50% discount.
How To Be Slim
This is a BBC program called The Truth About Food that really sheds some light of the scientific research done on how to be Slim. All videos equal about an hour in length.
After trying every diet in the book, a family of dieters are about to give up until the latest nutritional science comes to their aid. Sit back as THE TRUTH ABOUT FOOD reveals the foods that keep you feeling fuller for longer, how dairy products may hold the secret to reducing calorie absorption, and whether or not the speed of our metabolism really determines how fat we are.
Hope you enjoyed it.
is P90X a gimmick?
Is P90X a gimmick? Does P90X live up to the hype?
By now, you have all seen the infomercials for P90X. They are famous for making the claim that you can attain a complete body transformation in just 90 workouts.

The big question, does it work?
After expecting this to be a big scam, a lot of people are actually surprised to tell you that it really does work for them. But that is… only if you work it. There is no magic formula that will get you ripped in 90 days, its hard work and determination.
|
Pros |
Cons |
| The workouts work. You can make pretty dramatic changes if you do these workouts—as prescribed.
The exercises are straight forward and doable for most people who have experience working out. Most people report that Tony Horton (the instructor) is very motivating. For something this hard, it is great to have good motivator. You don’t need a lot of extra equipment or a spotter. Again, if the program is done as prescribed and your goal is to lean and defined – then this should do the job. It was hard to find a fitness trainer to say a bad word. |
You still have to “eat right” to come close to the results you see on TV
This is big time commitment. It is an hour a day of exercise and the Yoga X program is a full 90 minutes. Some of the moves may be too much for those who aren’t in good shape [however, they do show you modified moves] You need a pull-up bar for a lot of the sessions, you make the call. Some people report that Tony Horton can be a little annoying (but the majority like him) They up sell you their nutritional supplements on the DVDs which is a little much. You don’t need them. |
The Investment
P90X is not that expensive (only $120.00), and the shipping is $19.95 for “Express”. A lot better than $400 to $4,000 for a home Gym; The BowFlex PR3000 Home Gym runs an astronomical price of $1,000, but Does Not come with an instructional DVDs for the workouts, that walk you step by step through the entire process, nor Does it come with a nutritional guide to help you get your eating habits on the right path.

If you truly think you can decide, commit, and succeed to 90 days of creating the body of your dreams, don’t let the price stop you. Buy P90X Here
However, If aren’t really gung ho, then the package is just going to gather dust. Plain and simple, however there is a full 90 day money back guarantee through BeachBody, not something you will find if you order it off Amazon or Ebay. If you do order it off one of the previously mentioned sites beware that there are many low quality bootlegged and counterfeit DVDs and you don’t really know what you are getting unless you order directly from BeachBody
Obviously it is yours choice but you have been warned! Imagine getting a “cheap” copy of P90X only to find you’re missing documents, the disks skip, or you never ever get your order! It is No Fun, knowing you have been scammed!
The Real Key to Success: The Nutrition Guide!
The package also includes a nutrition guide with meal plans, a workout calendar, a fitness plan and online support. They set you up for success on the Meal Plan, which is a major factor in helping people lose so much weight!
The truth is, If you do the workouts and don’t follow the nutritional guide – you probably won’t lose as much weight as if you did both! The infomercial is straight forward in telling you this. I am not saying the workout isn’t great by itself, but let’s be honest it’s a package deal.
So we are clear P90X is not some fad workout program, not some gimmick, Millions of people have used it to get in shape. It is not some goofy thing that they try to sell you hoping it might shave off a few pounds here and there. P90X works and lives up to the Hype.
For $120.00 P90X : You get The DVD set, workout guides, & the nutrition plan.
P90X results package is only $269.00 which saves you $40. You get the pull up bar, bands, DVD’s, recovery drink, yoga mat, everything you need to get started.
Be sure to check out Tips for Taking Great P90X Pictures so you can document your results from day 1.
How Bad Are Diet Sodas?
How Bad Are Diet Sodas? And Can Diet Soda Kill You?
“New research that links diet soda consumption with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke has doctors urging caution…” – ABC News

“According to a study of more than 2,500 people […] at the American Stroke Association International Stroke Conference in Los Angeles, people who drank diet soda daily had a 61 percent increased risk of cardiovascular events…” – ABC News
So here is an “I told you so” moment. Personally I never drink the diet soda that I constantly see dieters drinking. Pretty much everyone I have ever known has reached for a diet soda when they start a new diet or exercise program. My first reaction is to tell them the diet soda is more harmful than a regular soda. I know, I love being right. It never gets tiresome. Just because a label has the words diet on it does not mean it’s the key ingredient in your new diet.

Have you ever heard of a diet Twinkie? Do you believe a diet Twinkie would be better for you than a regular Twinkie? Of course you do because that is what you have been lead to believe. Your brain has been programmed to associate the word diet with the word “Diet” because diets are supposes to be good for you, right? This is the main reason I don’t use the word diet instead I usually refer to a proper Nutritional Guide or Nutritional Plan when I am talking about my eating habits.
As you can see, just because it has a diet label on it doesn’t mean jack shit. What it does mean is that they simply removed the sugar from it and dosed it up on artificial sweeteners. They did this to market soda to the diabetic crowd. Sorry guys we know you can’t have regular soda because it’s bad for you. So we will make a soda just for you and call it Diabetic Soda… Wait…What do you mean it would sound better if we called it Diet Soda? Ok so the marketing guys think that we will sell more products to non diabetic consumers if we call it Diet Soda… simply because non diabetic consumers won’t even think about purchasing anything with diabetic on the label. However; Diet is a much more convincing word.
So in a nutshell, I’ve been telling people that you can’t take diet soda; something filled with unpronounceable bad crap, and magically make it not-bad just because the bottle says Diet. If you’re going to do irreparable damage to your body, don’t be a pussy and stick with the non-diet soda its better for you anyway. And remember there is no such thing as “I like the taste better”.

But… But… But.. Sugar is bad for you?
In the real world anything beyond moderation is bad for you, processed sugars, processed French fries, processed meats and that triple espresso from Star Bucks. So moderate your sugar intake along with everything else, it’s called self control. Look up aspartame dangers or aspartame poison, its the key ingredient in diet soda.
Aspartame/Nutrasweet is not very sweet in itself, that may be why Equal puts Dextrose (sugar) and maltodextrin as the first ingredients, so that it tastes sweet. Aspartame/Nutrasweet is a brain drug that stimulates your brain so you think that the food you’re eating tastes sweet. If you pay attention you’ll notice that when using Aspartame/Nutrasweet, everything you eat at the same time also tastes sweet! This is why Aspartame/Nutrasweet causes you to crave carbohydrates. Hence, you won’t lose weight using it.
Aspartame/Nutrasweet (aspartylphenylalanine-methyl-ester) breaks down to its poison constituents at 86 degrees (Aspartic Acid 40%, Phenylalanine 50%, and Methanol 10%). Remember your stomach is at 98.6 degrees! Therefore you should never use Aspartame/Nutrasweet in hot beverages or cooked foods such as Jello. How the FDA allows this remains a mystery. There is mounting evidence that the “Burning Mouth Syndrome” experienced by the Desert Storm troops was actually Methanol poisoning from the Diet Coke they drank lots of, after being exposed to desert temperatures.
Aspartame/Nutrasweet’s 10% Methanol appears in the body quickly and is the same alcohol (wood alcohol also in lacquer thinner), that your mother correctly warned you could make you blind. Many skid-row alcoholics had major problems with this cheap but deadly form of alcohol.
Aspartame/Nutrasweet’s 40% Aspartic Acid is an “excitotoxin” in the brain and excites neurons to death, i.e. it kills brain cells and causes other nerve damage.
Aspartame/Nutrasweet triggers Migraine Headaches. So if you are constantly suffering from Migraines check your Diet soda.
Aspartame/Nutrasweet’s breakdown products attack the bodies tissues and create Formaldehyde which builds up in the tissues forever. Remember the smelly, eye watering fumes from the frogs you dissected in school? They were preserved with Formaldehyde! Formaldehyde is thought to cause cancer.
The American Bottlers Association did not want the FDA to approve Aspartame/Nutrasweet because of what the test report showed. But the FDA approved it anyway!
You can read the full ABC News report here. And remember, think twice next time you pick up a diet soda just because the Nutrition Facts is full of 0%’s.
So yes Diet sodas are very bad for you and yes they can kill you and cause other health problems so avoid the at all cost.
4 Summer Bikini Body Exercises
It’s Summer time and that means Bikinis, sun dresses and showing off some more flesh. With these simple yet effective Bikini Body exercises you can tone out your trouble spots in very little time. For optimal results perform the entire routine head to toe 3 days a week.
Shoulders and Arms Exercises:
To look good in a Bikini you want to tone your shoulders and arms. With these simple upper body exercises you will be well on your way to achieving that toned upper body.
Chest Flies:
Lie on your back with knees, feet flat on the floor. Hold dumbbells over your chest, with your palms facing each other. With a slight bend in your elbows, slowly lower your arms out to your side, but don’t let your elbows touch the floor. Squeeze your chest to bring your arms back to start.
Reverse Flies:
Stand with feet close together with a slight bend in your knees. Bend over to a 90-degree angle, keeping your back flat. Hold dumbbells with your palms facing towards each other and raise your arms to your sides until they’re at shoulder level. Hold for a few seconds, then lower back to starting position.
Front Raises:
Hold a dumbbell in each hand and raise your arms straight out until they are level with your shoulders. Lower back down to in front of your thighs. Repeat.
Push-ups:
From a face-down position, place your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Place your toes or knees on the floor, and try to create a perfect diagonal with your body, from the shoulders to the knees or feet. Keep the glutes and abdominals engaged. Then lower and lift your body by bending and straightening your elbows, keeping your torso stable throughout. Note: Your chest should be the first body part to hit the ground.
Tricep Dips:
Start by lying on your back. Bending your knees, place your feet about a foot away from your butt, heels down; toes pointed up. Place your hands flat behind you, fingertips pointing towards your back, elbows tucked against your sides. Bend your arms and lower your body until your upper arms are parallel to the floor. Your hips should drop straight toward the ground, but try not to let your butt sit on the floor.) Hold for a beat, then push up through your palms to straighten your arms and repeat.
Single-Arm Bent-Over Rows:
Take a slight bend in your knees and bend forward, keeping your weight in your heels to steady yourself. With a flat back and your arms hanging below you, perform a “row” by pulling one dumbbell back, arm bent and your elbow close to your ribs until the weight reaches your armpit. Try to keep your body as still as you can to challenge your core muscles even more. Repeat on opposite side to complete one repetition.
Bicep Curls:
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes forward and knees soft (not locked). Place a five-pound dumbbell (or heavier if you can handle it) in each hand, palms facing forward. Slowly exhale and curl the dumbbells toward your chest. Inhale and lower the dumbbells three quarters of the way down, maintaining tension in the biceps. Keep your elbows tucked in at your sides to challenge your muscles even further.
Ab Exercises:
Toned Abs are the billboard of fitness, nothing says sexy like a firm tummy.
The Plank:
Get into a push-up position with your forearms on the floor. Lift your legs and torso up off the ground so that only your toes and the flats of your forearms remain on the floor. Keeping your back neutral and your belly button pulled in, hold this position. Your body should be in a straight line—keep your gaze on the floor (so you don’t put stress on your neck) and remember to take deep breaths.
Standard Crunch:
Lie with your knees bent, feet flat on the floor, fingertips lightly touching behind your head, elbows out to the sides. Contract your abs and let your head, upper back and shoulders come off the floor. Keep your chin one fist’s width from your chest. Hold and squeeze for a moment at the top, then slowly return to the starting position.
Bicycle Crunches:
Lie on the floor with your fingertips behind your head. Bend your knees and raise your legs above your hips, calves parallel to the floor. Bring one elbow to the opposite knee while pressing the other leg away from your body at a 45-degree angle. Alternate sides.
Butt Exercises:
Yes ladies guys will be checking out your butt as you walk by, give them something to admire with these butt toning exercises.
Sideways Step:
Stand with feet slightly apart. Bend your knees and lean forward into a crouching position.Staying in the crouch position, take a fast step to the side with your left foot. Quickly bring your right foot over to meet the left foot, tapping the ball of the right foot on the floor. Repeat by stepping your right foot out, with your left foot coming to meet it. A rep includes movement of both left and right feet. For an added challenge, quicken the pace.
Kickbacks:
Get down on your knees and forearms. Starting with the left, bend leg at a 90-degree angle, then flex foot and lift toward the ceiling. Being careful not to move pelvis, pulse foot three to four inches toward the ceiling. After 15 reps, switch legs.
Lifting Crunch:
Lie on your back with knees bent, feet slightly apart, arms down at your sides. Squeeze glutes together and tighten your abdominals. Continue to squeeze glutes as you raise your pelvis toward the ceiling, lifting as high as you can. Hold for three counts. Keeping glutes tight, slowly lower your pelvis down to the floor, starting with your midback and ending with your tailbone.
Legs Exercises:
The butt bone is connected to the leg bone and the glutes are connected to thighs. As we continue our head to toe workout we want to finish up with some leg exercises.
Squats:
Stand with feet no more than shoulder-width apart and your hands out in front of you, lightly cupped. Make sure that your toes point forward. Bending your knees, lower your body and sink into your heels as if you were sitting back into a chair, and keep your chest high. Push through your heels until you are standing up straight. Keep your abs tight throughout. Repeat.
Alternating Front Lunges:
Stand up straight, and take a big step forward, keeping your back straight. Bend your front knee to approximately 90 degrees, focusing on keeping weight on the back toes and dropping the knee of your back leg toward the floor Don’t let your front knee pass the front of your toes. Hold the stance for two counts, then switch legs.
Single Leg Extension:
Start by either balancing on one leg or holding on to chair for balance. Lift your left leg off the floor until it is extended straight in front of you. Slowly lower your leg as if you were pushing down on something until your toe taps the floor. Switch legs at the end of your set.
Plié Squats:
Stand with feet wider than your hips and point your toes at a 45-degree angle. Slowly sink down, keeping your thighs parallel to the floor and your back straight. Pause at the bottom of your squat, then lift up. To challenge yourself even more, try widening your stance, raising your toes up, or balancing on the balls of your feet with your heels an inch off the floor.
So there you have it, simple but effective Summer Bikini Exercise to tone, tighten, and get you ready for your favorite Bikini.
caffeinated Pants WTF
Caffeine-laced pants claim to help you lose weight. BUT Do they work? How does the research compare to other health product research? And what is it about these pants that are so popular?
Do we even need to have this conversation?
Today I was talking to a lady (whom we shall refer to as Jane Doe) about BeachBody sharing my own weight-loss success story. Jane informed me she didn’t need to exercise to lose weight she just purchased (get this) Caffeine laced pants.

There are plenty of studies that suggest drinking caffeine can increase a person’s metabolic rate and burn some calories. But wearing it? The Data is lacking. Jane was quick to point out that, Lytess, the makers of the wonder pants, have published research demonstrating that and found that wearing the shorts will greatly reduce a person’s measurements after 28 days.
Where is this study published? What peer review journal did this research appear in? Was it an internal study (meaning did Lytess do the research their selves) or was it an independent lab that conducted the study?
Their claim:
Lytess Slimming (Caffeine) Bike Shorts
Clinical studies have shown size reduction up to -1.2 inches on thigh and up to -2.1 inches on hips after 21 days. Guaranteed for 30 washes. Microencapsulated fat-mobilizing caffeine and hydrating shea butter woven fabric release as it rubs against your skin for all-day slimming and softening.
Besides Caffeine the Pants also include
Fucus – contains iodine. In theory, affects thyroid and helps regulate metabolism – no evidence it promotes weight loss.
Guarana – herb with a high caffeine content – has a mild thermogenic effect.
Hoodia – thought to curb appetite. San tribe chewed stalks to decrease hunger and thirst while hunting. No evidence it promotes weight loss.
Garcinia or hydroxycitrate – thought to decrease fat synthesis, no evidence it promotes weight loss.
Even if these ingredients wear able to affect appetite and weight control, there is no evidence they’re getting into the body by wearing them in a pair of pants. Dermal patches like nicotine must have a low molecular weight (be very small) to be absorbed through the skin. Though caffeine works to boost your metabolic rate when swallowed, doesn’t mean it works when placed on the skin.
And Guaranteed for 30 washes, I’m sorry but if you were to wear them for the time suggested you should be washing them everyday, So at $50 a pop that is $600 a year 3 times you average gym membership for an entire family.
But yep you guessed it even when the facts are staring a person right in the face they still refuse to listen because they don’t want to admit they have been hoodwinked. Human beings perceive their selves as smart but the second we get scammed we realize if it wasn’t for traffic signals we would still be getting run over as we tried to cross the road, each and everyone of us would have our Scooby Doo Lunch Box and Football helmet ready to go before we headed out the door to work. Humans don’t want to admit they were wrong, so they will spend another $50 on a gimmick diet pants, that don’t work and never worked. Only when they are ready to accept the truth will they seek out other means to lose weight.
I left Jane with my BeachBody Coach Business Card and told her when she wants to try something that works to drop me a line.
P90X for Free
P90X for free. As a BeachBody Coach I am frequently asked if I can hook people up with a free copy of P90X or even burn them a copy.
I want to use this post to explain a few things right off hand. First off As a BeachBody Coach my livelihood is commissions made from sells of products purchased through my affiliate link.
Simply click this link to
Next let me relate a story of Value. When we as human beings see an object that could assist us in achieving our goals, we make a commitment to obtain that object. We place a value on the object be it monetary, proverbial, or even spiritual. We channel energy into obtaining it, the more energy we put into obtaining this object the more value it holds and makes the ownership of this object more meaningful.
Now say your goal was to lose weight and get in shape, you know P90X works, because you have seen the videos on youtube, you have heard the testimonies, seen the results of people just like you. All you would need to do buy the program and put forth the effort and you too could have the same amazing results. Now say you have a limited budget, it’s a tough economy for everyone right now. You would have to budget in the cost of P90X. It is important to you so you have to make some changes and juggle a few things until you can come up with the funds, BeachBody understands this and can break up the price into different credit card payments. Then you are able to buy the P90X program. Then you can get started on your fitness goals with a program that works. You actually put energy into the purchasing of the program and this will actually help you succeed. You committed to the programs before you even purchased it.
Now say if you have the same goal lose weight and get in shape and someone just comes along and hands you a copy of P90X for nothing. You didn’t put the energy into buying it, it has no real value to you other than sure someone just handed it to you, you didn’t have to work for it, you have a program that everyone says works, but there was no energy applied to obtaining it. What do you think your results are going to be? If you actually get started its unlikely you will finish it.
Carl Daikeler the CEO of BeachBody actually learned this first hand. Some of his buddies from college talked him into giving them free copies. He owns the company he can give away what he wants, so he did. Guess how many of his old college buddies finished the program? 0 (zero). Why because they didn’t put any effort into purchasing it, it didn’t have value, so to them it was nothing more than a useless trinket.
When we buy something we are more inclined to use it, period. When we buy P90X we placed a value on it before we even opened the box. It’s a tool to utilize in our fitness goals, not something someone gave you to hopefully get you started, its is a tool you bought.
So to ask me for a free copy of P90X, you are actually asking me to take food out of my kid’s mouths, asking me to stop helping other people, and setting yourself up for failure. BeachBody has a simple formula for success, Decide, Commit and Succeed. Buying an official versions of P90X is part of the Commit step, Remember P90X comes with a full 90 day money back guarantee. Blood Type Diet
The Blood Type Diet
Maybe you have heard of this one? Follow a diet that’s designed specifically for your blood type and you’ll lose weight, feel healthier and lower your risk of many diseases. At least, that’s what Dr Peter D’Adamo, a naturopathic doctor and creator of the Blood Type Diet claims in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. But while celebrities might be a fan of the Blood Type Diet, most medical and nutrition experts aren’t, and agree that the hypotheses is complete nonsense.
So what is the hypotheses?
Prepare to be blown away by science or in this case pseudo science! Dr D’Adamo believes a person’s blood type determines how our bodies deal with different nutrients. His hypotheses is based on the idea that each blood type has its own unique antigen marker (a substance that the body recognizes as being alien) and this marker reacts badly with certain foods, leading to all sorts of potential health problems. Furthermore, Dr D’Adamo believes that levels of stomach acidity and digestive enzymes are linked with your blood type. Consequently, he says, by following a diet designed specifically for your blood type, your body digests and absorbs food more efficiently, with the result that you lose weight.
But here’s where the hypotheses becomes even more weird. Dr D’Adamo believes that because blood types evolved at different times throughout history, we should eat a diet based on the types of foods our ancestors typically ate at the time when our blood type was first recognized!
When did the blood types evolve?
The Type O Blood Group was the first blood type to be identified, although how we know this is anyone’s guess – we’re talking about our hunter-gatherer ancestors who were around in 50,000 B.C! Nevertheless, Dr D’Adamo believes because our type O ancestors survived and thrived on a high-protein, meat-based diet, that’s the type of diet the Type O blood group, should follow in the 21st century.
History lesson: The two most significant blood group systems were discovered by Karl Landsteiner during early experiments with blood transfusion: the ABO group in 1901 and in co-operation with Alexander S. Wiener the Rhesus group in 1937.
Next to evolve was the blood type A, sometime around 15,000 B.C! By this time, our ancestors’ hunter-gathering days were over and instead they started to settle into farming-type communities. The creation of blood type A around this time meant our ancestors did well on a vegetarian-based diet. And again, Dr D’Adamo recommends that blood group A’s should today follow a diet high in Vegetables.
Blood type B supposedly evolved around 10,000 B.C thanks to our nomadic ancestors. They left their farms and started wandering the land, constantly moving from place to place. Consequently, Dr D’Adamo’s hypotheses goes, blood group B’s today can get away with eating a varied diet that consists of most foods including meat, dairy, grains and vegetables.
Finally, blood type AB, which evolved just 1,000 years ago! Dr D’Adamo thinks this blood type helped our ancestors make the transition to modern times. Meaning that people with blood group AB can eat a mixture of the foods suitable for both blood group A and blood group B.
Each of the four blood types has a detailed list of foods that should be avoided and those that can be included. Here’s the lowdown
Blood Group O
This is the most common blood group in America, with about 37% of the population being Type O. Dr D’Adamo says that our digestive tract retains the memory of ancient times, and so type Os need to eat a typical hunter-gatherer type diet. In other words, type Os should follow a high-protein, low-carb diet with lots of meat and fish but no dairy products, wheat or grains.
If that sounds familiar, it’s because it is – the diet recommended for people with blood type O is simply a variation on many of the typical high-protein, low-carb diets that are currently popular, such as the Atkins diet. Foods you can eat freely include meat, fish and olive oil; foods you can eat in moderation include eggs, nuts, seeds, certain vegetables and fruits; and foods to avoid include dairy products, beans, cereals, bread, pasta and rice. To complement your food intake, Dr D’Adamo recommends lots of vigorous aerobic exercise such as aerobics and running – just like our hunter-gatherer ancestors did!
Blood Group A
This is the second most common blood type in America. Again according to Dr D’Adamo, digestive system is apparently very good at remembering that our ancestors had settled, farming lifestyles, which included eating lots of grains and vegetables but little meat. Consequently, blood type A’s should follow a vegetarian diet but still avoid dairy products. This means nuts, seeds, beans, cereals, pasta, rice, fruit and vegetables are all on the ‘to eat’ list. Meanwhile, calming exercises are thought to be best for blood type A’s such as yoga or golf.
Blood Group B
Only one person in 10 has blood type B – a real shame when you consider this blood group has the least dietary restrictions! As our type B ancestors were able to thrive on all sorts of foods, thanks to all that traveling, very few foods need to be avoided and this is the closest you’ll get to a healthy, balanced diet from Dr D’Adamo. The only foods that need to be avoided are processed foods, although nuts and seeds aren’t recommended and only small amounts of carb-rich foods should be eaten. When it comes to exercise, Dr D’Adamo recommends activities that have mental component, such as hiking, tennis and swimming – clearly our ancestors did a lot of thinking while they were walking!
Blood Group AB
People with this rare blood type should eat a combination of the foods recommended for blood groups A and B. Somewhat confusing when type B allows you to eat most foods, while type A suggests a vegetarian diet! Dr D’Adamo gets around this by suggesting that type ABs follow a veggie diet most of the time with some meat, fish and dairy products occasionally. It’s the same when it comes to exercise too – blood type ABs should combine calming exercises with moderately intense activities.
What Do the experts have to say?
Medical experts universally agree that the hypotheses is nonsense, and say there is absolutely no link between our blood group and the diet we eat. Consequently you won’t find qualified nutritionists or dietitians recommending this diet.
There are also several concerns, namely that the diets recommended for blood groups O and A are considerably limited and cut out major groups of foods.
In the long term, this can result in a poor intake of nutrients needed for good health. Cutting out dairy products, for example, will lead to poor intakes of calcium, which can put you at risk of osteoporosis (brittle bone disease), while avoiding meat can result in low intakes of iron, which can lead to anaemia. This is even more worrying in view of the fact that majority of people are blood type O or A.
But will the diet help me lose weight?
Almost certainly, but this is because each of the diets for the four blood types eliminates specific groups of food such as bread and cereals, dairy products or meat and fish, just like any other low carb diet. Dr D’Adamo doesn’t give any indication about how much weight you’ll lose, it will depend on how much you restrict your food intake.
Pro’s
There are not many positive things to say about this diet, which is clearly based on science fiction rather than science fact. However, as with any diet, it will get you thinking about what you are currently eating, with the result that you may start to make changes to your diet. Added to this, the blood type diet recommends eating fresh, natural foods and so can help you de-junk your diet by cutting out processed foods, takeaways, booze, chocolate and too many cups of coffee – all of which our ancestors missed out on!
Cons
There are plenty. On a practical level, you may need a blood test to discover your blood type if you don’t already know it – and this will mean a trip to your local doctor, who can also help you determine how silly this diet is from a real doctor’s advice! Family Mealtimes may also be impossible if everyone in the family wants to follow the diet, but has a different blood group! But most importantly, it’s just another cranky way of getting people to cut calories – and the most harmful side effect of this diet is that while you’ll probably lose weight, it could also affect your health in the long term. Nevertheless, if you’re still adamant about giving it a go, it’s best to follow it for just a short time (one week or less) and use it to kick-start a longer-term, healthy, weight-loss and exercise plan.
As simple as it sounds, it does not hold water. The concepts Dr. D’Adamo borrowed to base his diet on were written before genetic testing was available. Now that scientists can test genetic markers, the hypotheses has been proven false. It’s just another gimmicky clever way to sell a lot of books… and now a whole line of supplements that are based on the same false science as the diet!
I’m really not a fan of this fad diet. It’s filled with pseudo-science and has the potential to scare people into avoiding many nutritious foods in an effort to lose weight. It’s also worth bearing in mind that although the diet gives the impression that it’s based on sound scientific research this is, in fact, far from the case. Ultimately, the hypotheses is nonsense there’s no solid research evidence to support claims about a blood type diet. If you’re trying to lose weight, focus on developing healthy eating and exercise habits that you can follow for a lifetime.
Zombie Fitness Training
The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us. Are you ready? You have a stock pile of food, weapons, and ammo but are you truly prepared? You have spend countless hours going over your list and checking it twice, kinda like a certain bearded elf that lives in the polar region. Just so you know no zombies will make it that far north, because their bodies would become icicles rather quickly.
Think I’m not serious?

So you have down the basics for surviving the Zombie outbreak.
You have taken over a big box retailer or fortified your own home in preparation. You have a small group of refugees hiding out; you are all armed with plenty of food and water with a ways and means to get more. However, you’ll eventually run out of ammo, water, canned food, and fuel for the generator. In fact, you may be in the dark in a day or two, and the water could be gone shortly after that. Are you brave enough to venture outside to get fuel from a gas station? And if you’re really lucky in preparing for this outbreak, you already have a tanker truck to drive back to your home base. What about restocking the pantry? You will need to venture outside without resorting to cannibalism to feed those hungry refugees.
Let us assume you have read Max Brooks The Zombie Survival Guide and this has helped you prepare for this big day. If you haven’t read it, click the link above and order your copy today before it’s too late.
If you have seen the movie Zombie Land you know where I am going with this. So you have to venture outside eventually.
The first four rules of Zombie
#1 = Cardio
#2 = Double tap
#3 = Beware of bathrooms
#4 = Fasten your seatbelt
This is for those that don’t live near Mega Marts, big box retailer, or haven’t taken the time to plan ahead for such an event as well. You will need to walk amongst the zombies. Fair warning cars, motor cycles pretty much anything that makes noise will attach the hordes of Zombies wandering your neighborhood to your location. So move silently and swiftly is the best advice for venturing outside and be sure to employ the buddy system.
Rule #1 of Zombie Land is Cardio. Why you may ask? It’s simply really outrun the zombies, or better yet out run your buddy who is slower and slightly overweight. It’s like the two guys who were out in the forest one day and a bear comes rushing after them, one guy takes off his hiking boots and puts on his running shoes. The other guy said you aren’t going to able to out run the bear. The first guy says I don’t need to out run the bear I just need to out run you.
But you don’t like to exercise? What? Really? Ok let’s be blunt here, you will be eaten alive, become a mindless creature that wanders around with only one thought on it mind, eating other people until someone ends your miserable existence. So unless you want to be an all you can eat buffet for the undead, it’s time to get off your lazy butt and put some effort into your survival. There is a reason it’s called survival of the fittest. You not only have to shot the zombies, evade overwhelming hoards of Zombies but you will have to deal with other humans who failed to take the proper steps to prepare.
On top of cardio you will need some resistance training, you may need to barricade yourself into a room and the heavier the object the more time you bought yourself. You may need to be able to carry an injured buddy (just make sure it is not a bite wound.) Also the stronger you are the easier it will be for you to wear thick leather armor (if animals can’t bite through it Zombies won’t be able to either.) Not to mention if you have to abandon your fortress you will want to carry as many supplies with you as possible (try carrying a 50 pound pack on your back if you aren’t in shape this will lead to a very slow march.)
So to properly prepare for a Zombie outbreak, or even a natural disaster that can leave you fending for yourself until help arrives, you need to be ready not only mentally ready with a well stocked cupboard but your body has to be ready as well. A good cross training program will help you prepare your body. P90X is an excellent cross training program for preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse. No need for an expensive home gym system to take up room in your basement where you could use the extra room to stock up on supplies.
